Father and son killed after grenade exploded at home in Marsabit

A family in Marsabit County was left devastated after a father and his son were killed on Wednesday afternoon when a grenade exploded inside their home in Karare, Saku Constituency.
Police confirmed the victims died while trying to dismantle the explosive, which went off instantly, destroying part of their house.

“The two died while attempting to dismantle the grenade,” officers said, describing the blast as fatal and immediate.
County Police Commander Leonard Kimaiyo said the incident is under joint investigation with the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

The origin of the grenade is yet to be established.
The victims’ bodies have been taken to the mortuary for autopsy and other legal procedures. Authorities noted that similar explosives are sometimes found in the area, believed to be remnants from government training exercises.
In a separate development, detectives in Mombasa have intensified efforts against drug trafficking, leading to the arrest of two women accused of running a narcotics network.
Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Narcotics Unit raided a home in Bombolulu, uncovering 58 large rolls of bhang weighing around eight kilograms hidden in the ceiling of the toilet.
The homeowner, 48-year-old Mary Achieng, was arrested.
Elsewhere, 42-year-old Farhiya Hassan Moulid Ajorani was caught in Tudor’s Moroto area. Officers recovered eight large rolls of bhang from her home, along with 36 small rolls, 30 medium rolls, and ten small rolls in her handbag, all allegedly ready for sale.
